FREEDOM FROM SMOKING CLINICS For many of us, especially those who have tried to quit before, group support can make the difference in helping to stay smoke-free. Led by American Lung Association-certified facilitators, this eight-session, five-week group program is perfect for people looking to join a support group.

The leaders give class instructions and supplementary materials to help you develop your own quit plan. Topics include: recovery symptoms, weight control, stress management/relaxation techniques and how to calm the urge to smoke. You’ll also learn techniques for cognitive control and relaxation and receive information about how to use helpful tools, diets and support systems to quit successfully.

The eight-session format teaches participants to track personal habits and develop coping strategies—all in a supportive environment with others who are experiencing the same feelings and facing the same challenges. Call 1-800-LUNG-USA to find out where group counseling classes are available in your area.
